Festival Spatula

The "Festival of the spatula" is an annual culinary event, held for years at the Calypso pub Scilla.
This interesting event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the tourists and the inhabitants of the province dishes using a spatula and rediscover forgotten flavors and smells.
The festival opens as usual with the conference-debate on the abyssal fish Strait, its organoleptic characteristics, using the traditional cuisine of the Costa Viola.
The scientific name of the spatula is Lepidopus caudatus. This abysmal fish, belonging to family Trichiuridae generally live on sandy bottoms and muddy from 100 to 400 meters deep, can rise to the surface, especially in the summer and fall, creating huge banks in search of food. It is common in Mediterranean, Eastern Atlantic and Western Indian Ocean and Pacific. Fishing is by bottom trawls, trammel nets, bottom longline, purse seines and lines. The largest catches are recorded in the Strait of Messina and the Bay of Naples.
This particular fish is cooked in many ways, the drip pan, with an excellent sauce for pasta, and rolls in a trance. Do not miss the "cake spatula" accompanied by appetizers and wines of the area.
